Wes Miller, a former Executive Editor, launched LAYERS in 2023 after fifteen years of experience in the publishing industry to focus exclusively on what he loved best about his time as an acquiring editor: helping writers.

Most of Wes’s career was spent at Hachette Book Group, first at Little, Brown and Company where he helped launch the mystery/thriller imprint Mulholland Books and acquired and edited many exciting new voices in the genre. There, he acquired the Edgar Award-nominated debut novel IQ, by Joe Ide, and helped shepherd the publication of many other debut talents and established, celebrated greats, including David Morrell, C. J. Sansom, and Christopher Reich.

In 2016, Wes moved to Little, Brown’s sister company Grand Central Publishing, where his list expanded to include a stable of bestselling authors. At GCP, he was proud to have edited and published Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, Stephen Chbosky, Harlan Coben, Brad Meltzer, Ben Mezrich, Jason Schreier, Chuck Palahniuk, Kyle Beachy, and many others.

Wes has edited more than a dozen books which have debuted on the New York Times Bestsellers List, six of them at #1, and books on which he's worked have received the ALA Alex Award, the Nero Award, the Macavity Award, the Strand Critics Award for Best Debut, and were selected as Best Books of the Year by the New York Times, NPR, the Wall Street Journal, and more.

Hand him a manuscript rich with challenges, obstacles, a red herring or two, and a few rabbit holes, and he’ll be thrilled to help you climb back out, overcome your difficulties, and solve your story’s mysteries. All you need is the right set of tools.
